Immortals 4
Alyson Noel
This installment of the Immortals series starts off where the third one left off. Ever is trying to explain to Haven what it means to be immortal. Rather than just telling her all of the details, Ever decides to leave out most of what is really going on. Haven can sense this and gets bored and decides that rather than listening to Ever, she wants to take her new powers for a spin. Since Ever isn’t able to convince Haven to stay away from Roman before they part, she asks her to get the "antidote to the antidote" for her to cure Damen.
Ever tries to reverse the binding spell that she cast on Roman. By casting the spell under the dark moon, she called upon Hecate rather than the goddess, and Ever ends up binding herself to Roman. Romy and Rayne (the twins) tell her that she needs to appeal to the goddess to reverse the spell. The request does nothing but upset Hecate and make the results even worse. Now, Ever cannot seem to resist Roman.
Ever starts to get annoyed by her Aunt Sabine's relationship with her history teacher, Paul Munoz. To escape, Ever decides to go see Roman. However, just outside the door of where Roman got Haven her job, Ever runs into Jude. This (along with the ouroboros tattoo) convince her that Jude is part of Roman's gang. Ever decides that she is going to prove that Jude is evil by stabbing him in the arm with her athame. When he starts bleeding profusely, she realizes that she made a mistake and will have to earn back his trust.
Damen and Ever invite Haven over to Damen's place to talk about the immortal situation again. Haven is already upset by the fact that Damen only gave her seven bottles of Elixer, but she lets out her feelings about Ever ditching her friends after Damen came along. Ever changes her mind about Haven getting the antidote from Roman because it is too dangerous. Ever and Damen go to Summerland, where Ever feels the affects of the spell fade away.
Ever has every intention of going to help Jude, but stops at Roman's on the way. She asks for the antidote, but Roman refuses. As they are talking, Roman starts touching her and she does nothing to stop it. Haven finds them together and is not happy about it. Ever runs to Jude for help on her Roman problem. She explains how she can't let Damen know because it's too embarrassing. Jude is slightly offended by the remark, but agrees to help.
Ever and Damen go to say their final farwells to Miles before he leaves for Italy, but Roman is there as well. Miles already knows that Ever and Haven are fighting, but refuses to get in the middle, including letting Ever and Damen know how much Haven told him. Eventually, he spills, and Haven kept the secret. Roman and Damen get into an argument about where Miles should go to see art in Italy. During the entire situation, Ever cannot stop thinking about Roman. She decides that she needs to tell Damen what is going on, but can't seem to get the words out. She asks him to go to Summerland with her so that she can explain (since the spell doesn't affect her there), but Damen refuses. Ever goes alone and runs into Ava, who she is not keen on listening to.
Back at work, Ever continues looking for answers. Jude tries to help, but nothing is really accomplished. In the end, Ever takes Jude to Summerland and heals him. She lets him spend all of the time he wants manifesting, which includes his perfect surfing wave. Ever sends Jude into the Hall of Knowledge to get some answers for her. While waiting, Ever takes a trip while Jude is preoccupied and finds a wasteland in Summerland. Jude tells her that it's complicated and that's when she sees Damen watching them. Jude leaves Summerland and Ever goes walking. She finds the people that watched over Romy and Rayne (who says their personalities are opposite from what Ever knows). Ever finds signs of Riley in the girls' room.
Ever goes to see Damen and he realizes that there is something really wrong with Ever. Rather than letting him see what is going on, she runs from him. However, she finds that she is not able to manifest or keep the things she has already made. She runs to Roman's and throws herself at him. At first, Roman refuses, but Ever makes herself look like Drina (whom Roman loved). Haven shows up and sees that it is Ever and freaks out on her.
Ever goes back to the store and finds that Jude has circled a calendar day for her to perform her reversal spell while Hecate is rising. Ever performs the spell and it seems to quash her desire for Roman.
Damen gives Ever "the Pavillion" for her birthday. This is a place where they can either watch or re-live all of their romantic encounters. Somehow, Damen was able to work his magic on this place so that the two of them can actually touch while reliving their lives. After such a happy time together, Ever dreads going to her birthday party. Haven is there with Roman. Ever ends up talking with Ava, starting the forgiveness process. Ever ends up talking with Sabine at the end of the night and they seem to be on better terms. Just before her birthday is over, Ever finds a card from Roman, saying that he'll give her the one thing she wants most, but the offer expires at midnight.
Ever rushes over to Roman's to get the antidote for Damen. As it turns out, the "dark flame" that is crazy Ever, still resides inside her. She tells Roman that she wants the antidote, and Roman tells her that he is moving back to London. Roman wants Ever to tell the truth about what she really wants, so he comes up with a test. Ever tries to answer the question that Roman asks, but the flame erupts and she's all over Roman in an instant, with him calling her Drina. Ever focuses on her heart chakra to be able to bring the flame under wraps and knees Roman to end the romance of their encounter. Roman says that he won't give her the antidote now.
Ever runs away to Summerland. She finds the bridge to cross over. Jude finds her there and takes her to Ava for help. Ava is able to teach her some techniques to keep everything in check. She then comes clean with Damen about what has been going on. Miles calls from Italy and tells Ever that they need to talk when he gets back because he took some pictures of Damen in paintings.
After a lot of training, Ever decides to go to the Hall of Knowledge to see if she is allowed to enter again. She goes in and finds out what she needs to know about Roman: he had a hard childhood that was void of love. She goes to him to let him know that she understands. Roman agrees to give Ever the antidote if she shows Roman where Drina is. As she is showing him, Jude breaks in, thinking that Ever has gone off of the deep end again. He kills Roman by hitting his weakest chakra, destroying Roman and the antidote in the same hit. Haven comes home to find them over Roman's ashes and swears her revenge.
