Blood Coven Vampires 4
by Mari Mancusi
Sunny bugs Rayne yet again about her boyfriend issues. Magnus has been very busy and Rayne points out that Sunny needs to talk to him rather than sleeping with him to fix it. A friend calls and Sunny turns down a party invite. Magnus calls and they make plans to hang out in a hotel room after Sunny spends time with her family watching Rayne cheer.
At the high school football game, Sunny sits in the stands to watch Rayne cheer. After the game, their mom and her boyfriend, David, leave. The twins’ vampire boyfriends show up. Just as they are all greeting each other, a girl comes up to them calling Magnus’ name. He says this girl, Jane, has been ruled to be his blood mate by the council.
Rayne distracts jane so that Sunny can talk to Magnus. He says his blood mate relationship with Jane would be strictly business and not romantic. Sunny is furious and storms away.
Sunny lies in bed with Rayne. She cries over her situation and Rayne tires to comfort her. Sunny convinces herself that Jane is part of an evil conspiracy.
In the morning, Sunny has several apologetic voicemails from Magnus. She agrees to meet with him and he calms her down. Jane shows up and Magnus leaves them alone to talk. Sunny asks Jane a bunch of questions about Oxford (the university she claims to have gotten her degree at), but she can’t seem to get the right answers. However, Magnus refuses to listen to Sunny. Jane will become his blood mate in a ritual in Vegas. Sunny asks to go and Magnus refuses her request.
Sunny fills in Rayne about her suspicions. They come up with a plan to go to Vegas under the guise of visiting their dad, which their mom seems oddly happy about.
The twins arrive in Vegas and take a cab to their dad’s penthouse apartment. They are greeted by their stepsister, Crystal, who seems to have a bad attitude. They meet their stepmother, Heather, and a nerdy gamer girl named Stormy informs them she is their half sister. Sunny decides to get Rayne out onto the strip before she explodes.
Magnus’ secretary recognizes Sunny and Rayne through their disguises (which consists of colored wigs). Rayne sends her on a mission to get something from Magnus’ hotel room. When she leaves, Rayne calls the hotel desk to say that she is breaking in before going to gamble. Sunny gets a showgirl costume to conceal her identity while spying on Jane. She is about to give up on the whole thing when she sees Jane walk out of a meeting and down the hall. Sunny follows far behind and sees Jane talk to a guy that is dressed like a cowboy. She knows something is up when they kiss and then part ways. Sunny decides to follow the Cowboy to a rundown casino that has a vampire review. A boy, Jayden, informs her they lost their leading lady and hands her the playbill. Jane is the one that has dropped out of their play.
Sunny heads back to the strip to show Rayne the playbill. Rayne tells her to gather more evidence before she goes back to her blackjack game. Sunny heads back to the apartment and bonds with her stepmom. She goes to bed distracted by why Magnus hasn’t called her.
Rayne finally shows up at five in the morning and wakes Sunny up. Realizing that her twin isn’t going to let her sleep, Sunny does some bonding with Stormy. Afterwards, she goes back to the old rundown Sun Hotel and watches a few awful auditions for the role of Mina in Dracula. She says she’s there to see Jayden and they beg her to do one performance. Shortly after she agrees, Magnus calls to yell at Sunny for coming to vegas and putting his secretary in jail. She tries to explain, but Magnus only offers her five minutes, which happens to conflict with her new rehearsal schedule. He refuses to heed her warnings and Sunny realizes she will always be treated like a child by Magnus.
Sunny’s new actor friends, Jayden, Eric, and Allegra, take her around to see the sights of Vegas. There is a barter system in place for the locals, so they can do a lot in one day. Jayden takes her to a show that he helps out with. Sunny feels a little guilty for how much she likes hanging out with Jayden.
Sunny is given a skimpy leotard for the dress rehearsal. Cornelius, Jane’s cowboy boyfriend, arrives and they start. When it comes time for him to bite Sunny, he starts sniffing her. He says that she is marked (from Magnus’ bite) and dismisses her from the play. Jayden tries to get him to reconsider, but Cornelius refuses.
Jayden takes Sunny out to dinner and they have a great time. She is able to share intimate stories about her dad with him. She wants to let him kiss her, but knows she can’t. Jayden guesses that she has a boyfriend and walks her home. She realizes how miserable her relationship with Magnus is making her.
Back at the apartment, Sunny asks Stormy for help hacking into Cornelius’ computer so that she can get Jane’s address. Stormy sends a Trojan virus that will take some time. Rayne comes along to find them goofing around. The twins go off and Sunny convinces Rayne to give their step family a chance.
Sunny and Rayne bond with their new family. The next afternoon, Stormy wakes up Sunny to inform her that they have access to Cornelius’ computer. She gets Jane’s address and looks into his internet history. She prints out a screen capture showing his searches for Oxford University. Sunny asks Rayne to go with her to Jane’s, but Rayne is too busy with a poker game. Sunny hails a cab to go alone.
When they got to the trailer park, Sunny pays extra for the driver to wait for her. She gets out and he takes off. She goes into Jane’s trailer and finds all the files pointing to her just being a jealous girlfriend. As it grows darker, Sunny realizes the railer park is inhabited by vampires. She sits in the dark waiting for the sun to come up when she sees a picture of Jane and her twin, Sasha. She then finds Jane’s death certificate.
Cornelius shows up and explains that he has known what Sunny has been up to for a while. He brings Jayden into the trailer so that Sunny won’t try to escape. Cornelius leaves them alone for a few minutes and Sunny explains the truth to Jayden. They decide to use his emergency medical device to call for help, but Cornelius comes back and knocks it out of Jayden’s hand. Jayden cuts himself across the chest to distract Cornelius. Sunny turns on the stove and Jayden pushes the vampire onto the flames. Sunny grabs the device and pushes the button. She rides in the ambulance with Jayden and he tells her to go save the Blood Coven.
Sunny barely makes it to the biting ceremony and barges in to share what she found. Magnus finally decides to listen and believes her evidence. Sasha takes a vial of Magnus’ blood and drinks it before anyone can stop her. Rayne comes along and slays her. Sunny hasn’t forgiven Magnus yet, especially when he has to deal with coven business instead of going with her.
Jayden is okay, but still in the hospital. As Sunny is saying goodbye, they start kissing. Magnus walks in and Jayden sends Sunny after him when he leaves. he forgives her and realizes his mistakes. he has decided that he doesn’t want a blood mate and instead will promote Jareth. They decide to give their relationship another go.
Sunny spends her last night in Vegas playing Mina to Jayden’s Dracula. She is shocked to see both of her parents in the crowd of the sold out show.
Back at the apartment, the twins’ mom explains that they are all fairies that have been told to return to Tir Na Nog. If they refuse, they will be killed.
