Since they didn’t actually do the assignment, Rafe makes up facts about her and her friends tease her at lunch. Gemma is in one of her later classes and saves Violet from having to sit by Grady.
Violet sits silently in Dr. Lee’s office like she has since he threatened her family. She asks for a refill of pills. He explains that Rafe and Gemma are enrolled in her school because she isn’t participating enough with the team. Back at home, her mother left a box of her grandma’s things in Violet’s room. She finds journals at the bottom and reads about her grandma’s experience of falling in love and telling the boy, Ian, about her ability. he avoided her and told everyone. After a while, Violet confirms that the dead boy on the couch doesn’t have an echo.

Everything else he told her seemed reasonable until this because that was how the family was murdered. The next day, Violet goes to see Grady and confirms that he doesn’t carry any imprints. Jay stops by later to give her a music box shaped like a turtle that plays the tune of her own imprint. She continues going through her grandma’s journals to learn more. Her Uncle Stephen is there when they arrive and he explains his frustration at Violet going to see Grady. He wants her to have a happy, normal life, but she wants to help. He agrees that he will keep her updated. Chelsea is onto the fact that Violet is somehow involved with the murders. Jay and Rafe are still competing over Violet. After an awkward lunch, Violet goes to the class she has with Gemma and is slightly relieved to have someone she can talk to about what has been going on. Violet goes in for her session with Dr. Lee and hates to admit that she needs his help, but she does feel better after. When the group finds out that they are being manipulated for immoral actions, one girl decides to leave, but ends up dead. Dr. Lee was a member and had the ability to make people feel calm. She realizes that he has used this on her before, when she was mad about Rafe and Gemma being at her school, She contemplates how long they have suspected her abilities. In the middle of the night, Violet wakes up and realizes her imprint is gone. Rafe calls to check on her and she realizes that he dug up Caine’s body and removed the heart. She tells him it doesn’t change anything, but he replies that it changes everything.
The next day at school, Rafe wants to talk. They decide to skip school just as their teacher walks in. They leave anyway and go to an old fashioned drive in restaurant on Rafe’s motorcycle. She tells him about the imprint being gone, but not the memories. She continues to tell him about Dr. Lee and her grandma’s journals. Lastly, she tells him about Dr. Lee’s threat to keep her on the team. They go back to Violet’s house and she gives him the journal about the Circle of Seven. When he takes her back to the school to get her car, Jay is waiting and pissed. He says he’s done with her lies and storms off before Violet can explain. She goes home and hides in her room with the journals.

Evan, Boxer, and Kisha look for a girl for Colton, who is struggling to survive the wounds Evan gave him.
Violet confronts Dr. Lee about his participation in the Circle of Seven. He warns her that he is not the one threatening her, only a messenger. He admits that Muriel (her grandma’s friend in the Circle) wasn’t killed and is actually Sam’s grandmother. Later, Violet still thinks there is something important about the band with the cross logo. She finds another performance and asks Chelsea to go with her. Chelsea invites Jay and Rafe. They make an effort to dress appropriately for the occasion, which makes Violet glad that Jay is there.
Evan is at the same club as Violet and her friends. He finds Chelsea and decides that she will be Colton’s girl. He sees the perfect opportunity when the four of them separate.

Evan roofies Chelsea and drags her out of the bar once she gets tipsy. He has to get her out of there before her friends come back.
Jay is able to get Violet out of the crowd and has to stop her from following the imprint. They go back to find Rafe and Chelsea, but Chelsea is gone. A guy near by says she left with a guy that had the brimstone cross tattooed on his neck. Rafe calls Sara and they split up. violet is able to pick up the imprint. She and Jay follow it.

Evan told Kisha to hide. He takes Chelsea to another room and she moans. He hears Jay and Violet approach and stabs Chelsea in the gut.
Jay rushes into the room, breaking down the door. Evan jumps out the window and Jay follows. Violet finds Chelsea on the floor and then she sees the wound. She applies pressure, yelling for help. Violet sees smoke rising from CHelsea as paramedics pull her away from her friend. A cop questions her and she tells them there is someone in the attic. They take her outside to the ambulances where Rafe explains that Jay landed safely out the window and beat up the killer, who is now in custody. She reunites with Jay. A stretcher comes out with Kisha, who overdosed, but is stable.
Violet waits anxiously at the hospital Sara fills her in on finding the rest of Evan’s “family.” She is able to go see Chelsea and Rafe is there. They seem close and Violet feels like she is intruding. She gets a moment alone with Chelsea, who tells her she thought she saw an angel before she died. Violet leaves Chelsea to rest, taking a familiar PTSD therapy card with her.
