Immortals 3
Alyson Noel
Ever is struggling with how to tell Damen that they cannot be together. Unfortunately, she was tricked by Roman into adding her blood to Damen's antidote, ensuring that they could never be together. Ever admits that she had a choice to make between her family and Damen and chose her family. She also tells him that she took the opportunity in Summerland to watch his past. Damen is convinced that he is being punished for his past selfishness. Ever berates him and tells him that she needs him to help her find a way for them to be together.
On the way to school, Ever's friend, Miles, informs her that he has been excepted into an acting program in Italy. Upon arriving at school, Ever notices that Damen is dressed unusually normal and doesn't have his car. Haven informs Ever that Damen rode the bus. Ever is convinced that Damen is doing all of this because of his worries about karma. He then tries to reassure Damen that him and Stacia didn't do anything while under Roman's spell and that she is enough for him.
With a promise not to kill Roman, Ever goes to English class. While there, Roman makes several comments about her relationship with Damen and how her and Roman will end up together. He also reminds her that he has the antidote to the antidote. After class, her english teacher, Munoz tells Ever about how he asked out her aunt (who is also her guardian). Now she wants to stop the date because she doesn't want to give up her only family member and Munoz knows she's psychic while Sabine does not. Haven has been noticing the strangeness between Ever and Damen and vows to figure it out. Damen is upset by Miles planned trip to Florence.
Ever and Damen are now both wearing gloves to be able to somewhat touch each other. Ever is becoming even more concerned as she learns of even more things that Damen has given up (returned to their natural state of vibrating energy). Ever is starting to think that maybe Damen has started changing and isn't the person she first met. Damen convinces her that it should be the size of his heart, not his house, that interests her. After Ever tries to make a move on Damen in Summerland, Damen shows her the bad side of the place, the Shadowland. Damen explains that he thought it was only meant for him, but that Ever could go there two. Damen decides that the only way he can protect Ever's soul is to not be with her.
Back home, Ever's aunt, Sabine, wants her to get a job, and there is an internship opening at her firm. Ever wants to refuse so that she can have the whole summer to work on her and Damen's problem, but ends up agreeing to find something. Later that night, Ever has a nightmare and goes for a run. She ends up at Roman's house. She proposes a truce, however Roman is not willing. He has set a price for what Ever needs and is unwilling to waver. On the way back home, Ever runs into Romy and Rayne. The twins inform Ever that they cannot get back to Summerland. They have lost their powers because they helped Ever and she made the wrong decision. Romy tells Ever their story: they escaped the Salem witch trials by fleeing to Sumerland. Ever takes them to Damen's house. Damen wants to give them the option of staying in the real world and having a real childhood.
Ever goes to the Metaphysics store, Mystics and Moonbeams. She sneaks in, since there is a sign on the door and is scared by Jude, the owner, Lina's, grandson. He thinks Ava is avoiding him and is looking for a new psychic. He gives Ever an audition. She reads Jude and sees that he is different and a medium. She decides to use the fake name "Avalon" for readings.
Ever comes home to a note from Sabine. She goes upstairs and finds Damen, who is able to touch her. He tells her about the thin veil he created so that they can touch. He then convinces Ever that they should take the next 5 years to raise the twins. She is reluctant, but seems to agree. They start going at it and the veil slips. They decide to test the idea of mixing DNA but cutting themselves and letting the blood mix. It doesn't go well.
Haven shows up with her sick cat after being absent from school. The tears start flowing and she reveals to Ever the issues that are going on in her life: parents on verge of divorce, nothing lasts so why try, might be moving. She leaves the dying cat with Ever and heads to an interview that Roman set up for her. Ever takes the cat to Damen, who refuses to save it for several reasons, but the twins want to keep the cat. Ever is disappointed in how "middle-aged" her life is becoming and Damen is concerned about her job.
Ever starts her first day. A client turns her down because she is young and Jude leaves her to run the store. He gives her a book to help her sort crystals. As Ever starts cleaning up, she finds a Book of Shadows. The book of spells and magic flings her back when she tries to "read" it. Just as she's looking through the book, Honor (Stacia's friend) comes into the store looking scared. She is looking for Jude and says she'll come back when Ever explains that he isn't there.
Ever later tells Damen about the Book of Shadows and he says that it is bad news. She also tells him that she feels like they are in a rut. Damen takes her to a closed museum to prove that they can do whatever they want. Ever and Damen talk about art and Damen explains to Ever about constantly moving and watching friends die. Damen paints Ever's various forms into one portrait and they make a quick dash to leave the museum.
Ever shows up to Charm's (Haven's cat) funeral a little late due to her Aunt being picked up by her teacher for their date. At the memorial, Jason (Haven's Boyfriend) had brought her a kitten. However Haven didn't want it and the twins take it from him. Damen is giving the twins lessons in magic and Ever asks if the Book of Shadows will help. The twins beg to see the book. The go and as the twins are looking at the book, Jude shows up. He offers to enroll the twins into his magic classes, but Damen is reluctant. Later at work, Jude helps Ever with blocking negativity from her clients.
Ever ends up skipping all of her classes except for history (because she made a deal with Munoz that she wouldn't skip if he didn't tell Sabine about her telepathy). She goes to work where Jude tells her that he has been seeing Riley. He gives her the message that Riley is telling him, but it is too much for Ever. She runs out of the store to the beach and starts going into the water. Jude comes after her and is telling her about how he wants to help her see her sister. A wave comes and knocks them over and Damen happens to see. Flustered again, Ever goes to visit Haven at work, but she isn't there. She ends up running into Roman instead. He mentions to her that thesecret to getting the antidote is "what people want."
Haven and Miles come to the store to visit Ever. They are convinced that she is into Jude even though she denies it. They both ask if they can schedule readings from Avalon, but Ever tells them that she is book. Jude starts his teachings on how Ever can see Riley.
Romy and Rayne show up at Ever's before Miles' going away party. They confirm Ever's suspicions that Roman is creating more rogue immortals. Ever goes to the store to get the book so that the twins might be able to get their powers back sooner. They teach her how to read the book with a spell. Ever uses it to perform a binding spell on her and Roman. The twins warn her that she has done something very bad because she cast a spell under the dark moon. They make her stay in her circle until they do some cleansing because of the bad energy she has conjured.
The Party starts and Haven shows up with Roman, Misa, and Rafe (all rogues). Jude offers to take the twins home after some inappropriate comments from Roman. Rayne warns Ever taht something bad is coming and that she had better choose right this time. Jude returns to the party telling Ever that he lied to Damen about where he found the twins. Eventual, Roman leaves and ever is disappointed that he is leaving without seeing any results from the spell that she cast.
After the party, Ever and Jude get in the hot tub. Jude gets a phone call and decides to answer it just after he and Ever almost kiss. As he turns to get the phone, Ever sees that he has the Ouroboros (sign of Roman's rogues) tattooed on the small of his back. The call is from Ava. She tells Ever that Roman has Haven and that she is dying. Ever runs to Haven after telling Jude that he had better be gone by the time she gets back.
When Ever arrives where Roman has Haven, Damen is there as well. Roman reveals that he gave Haven belladonna tea and that she is almost dead. He also tells ever that to get the antidote, she has to let Haven die. Damen and Ava tell Ever not to save her. Haven dies, but as Ever is seeing the string of life about to snap, she gives Haven the elixer.
Damen understands Ever's choice to save her friend. He also informs Ever that the Ouroboros she saw on Jude may not mean that he is evil (that is just what Roman distorted the symbol to mean). Ever is overcome with guilt at sentencing her friend to the Shadowland, should she ever die. She also informs Damen that he is the only one she will ever want.
